Florence Ceramics Pasadena Kay Lady 7" Double Flower Holder Figurine 1942-1964
ITEM DESCRIPTION
This vintage Florence Ceramics Pasadena Kay Lady Double Flower Holder Figurine is in Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Made by Florence Ceramics of Pasadena, California, this charming figurine dates from 1942–1964 and measures approximately 7" tall.
Kay depicts an elegantly dressed young woman wearing a flowing creamy white gown decorated with delicate hand-painted pastel flowers. She holds the sides of her full skirt gracefully in each hand, creating the classic romantic appearance associated with Florence Ceramics lady figurines.
Her gown features puffed sleeves and a neckline accented with tiny pink and blue flowers. Additional scattered floral sprays in soft pink, blue and green decorate the front and sides of the sweeping skirt.
Kay's softly modeled face features delicate painted eyes, rosy cheeks and pink lips. Her brown hair is framed by a large coordinating bonnet, which is also accented with a small hand-painted floral decoration on the back.
An especially interesting feature of this design is the pair of open flower holders incorporated into the back of her skirt, one on each side. The openings blend naturally into the folds of the gown, allowing Kay to function as both a decorative figurine and a double flower or posy holder.

PATTERN & DESIGN
Kay is a wonderful example of Florence Ceramics' romantic lady figurines, combining an elegantly modeled young woman with an unusual double flower-holder design.
Her full gown is sculpted with deep flowing folds and decorated with delicate hand-painted floral sprays in soft pastel colors. The puffed sleeves, floral neckline and large bonnet add to the feminine period styling.
Two separate openings are cleverly incorporated into the back of the flowing skirt. Rather than appearing as separate containers, the flower holders become part of the sculptural folds of the gown and are largely concealed when the figurine is viewed from the front.
The graceful pose, delicate pastel decoration, large bonnet and unusual double flower holders make Kay a particularly attractive example of vintage Florence Ceramics porcelain from Pasadena, California.
