Chinese Porcelain Benjarong / Bencharong Antique 5 1/8" Stem Plate 1800s
This is in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Very nice Chinese Porcelain Benjarong Stem Plate. This features a predominately white ground with a maroon center. It has elaborate Thai decorative motifs in green, yellow, and pink below the bowl and on the stem. The rim is flat and scalloped with gold trim. This was made for sale in the Thai Market. When Bencharong (Benjarong) is used to refer to porcelain it usually means a type of 18th and 19th centuries Chinese polychrome enameled 'five colored' wares, made in Jingdezhen to Thai (Siamese) specifications in the 18th and 19th centuries. The word derives from the Sanskrit panch rang meaning 'five colors', same as the Chinese wu cai.
This measures 2 1/8" High x 5 1/8" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Plate.
