DESIGNER HISTORY

Betty Harrington was the principal designer for Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison, Wisconsin, one of America's best-known producers of decorative ceramic figurines during the 1940s and 1950s. Her designs are recognized for their stylized forms, expressive personalities and distinctive hand-decorated finishes. Today, Ceramic Arts Studio pieces are collected for their whimsical Mid-Century designs and connection to the history of American studio ceramics.

PATTERN & DESIGN

This charming Dachshund captures the distinctive characteristics of the breed in Betty Harrington's playful, stylized manner. The elongated body is supported by four short legs, while the oversized floppy ears frame the expressive raised face.

A rich glossy brown glaze covers the body, with darker coloration emphasizing the ears, muzzle, feet and tightly curled tail. Subtle variations within the brown glaze add depth and give the figurine the handcrafted character associated with Ceramic Arts Studio.

The combination of its compact size, recognizable Dachshund form and expressive modeling makes this an especially appealing Ceramic Arts Studio animal figurine.

This measures 2 3/8" High x 3 1/2" Long. I have provided many pictures to best describe the condition of this Figurine.
