PATTERN & DESIGN

The Theresienthal Garda pattern is distinguished by its elegant flared bowl and subtle spiral Swirl Optic treatment, creating a graceful sense of movement throughout the glass. These examples feature beautiful Rose colored bowls with clear glass at the base, a small clear collar, and exceptionally slender clear stems terminating in broad circular feet.

Garda was produced by the renowned German glassworks Theresienthal and was associated with F. Schmidt in the American market. The Garda design originated during the late 1920s and continued into the following decades. These c1930s examples beautifully reflect the refined European table glass aesthetic of the Art Deco period. The combination of Rose coloring, optical movement, delicate proportions and long clear stems gives Garda its distinctive and sophisticated appearance.
