ITEM DESCRIPTION

This Ceramic Arts Studio Modern Doe Figurine is in Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing.

Designed by Rebus Cohen for Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison, Wisconsin, this beautiful stylized doe features a sleek mid-century modern form with long pointed ears, graceful facial features, and an elegant reclining pose. It is finished in a rich glossy brown glaze with darker accents emphasizing the sculpted details.

This piece comes from a lifetime collection of more than 1,000 Ceramic Arts Studio pieces that we recently acquired, including figurines, salt & pepper shakers, head vases, shelf sitters, and many other hard-to-find CAS designs.

The figurine measures approximately 3 3/4" tall and dates from 1953–1956.

DESIGNER HISTORY

Rebus Cohen was a designer for Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison, Wisconsin, and created a number of the company's distinctive figural designs during the 1950s. His work included stylized animal and human figures reflecting the modern design influences of the period.

PATTERN & DESIGN

The Modern Doe is modeled in a graceful reclining position with elongated ears, a slender neck, and simplified sculptural lines. The deeply molded facial and body details are highlighted by the rich brown glaze, giving the figurine a distinctly mid-century modern appearance.

This measures 3 3/4" High x 4 1/4" Long. I have provided many pictures to best describe the condition of this Figurine.
