Description
Limoges L.R.I. France Porcelain Artist Hand Signed Valentin Sandpiper Birds In Flight Antique Rococo Gold Rim Scalloped Large 10 3/8" Wall Cabinet Plate 1900–1920
This is a beautifully hand-painted Limoges porcelain cabinet or wall plate dating to the 1900–1920 period, bearing the L.R.I. (Limoges) mark on the back and hand signed by the artist Valentin.
L.R.I. stands for Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman, a professional Limoges decorating firm active from approximately 1900–1920. Rather than manufacturing porcelain, the company specialized in purchasing high-quality white Limoges blanks and employing skilled studio artists to hand decorate them for export, particularly to the American market.
The back shows a clean, bright white Limoges porcelain blank with the green L.R.I. underglaze mark centered. The raised foot ring is well defined.
The center features two finely detailed sandpipers in flight, expertly painted with rich brown tones and delicate feather work against a soft marsh landscape background with water and floral elements. The artwork has strong depth and life-like movement, showing a skilled hand. The plate is framed by a heavy, raised Rococo-style scalloped rim with thick gold gilding, adding a bold and elegant presentation. This is a true decorative statement piece, ideal for a wall display or a cabinet.
Excellent Antique Condition with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Crazing.
NOTE: There is light gold wear on the raised edges and minor age-related surface wear. (SEE pictures with pen if applicable).
