This bowl is in Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Repairs. The glaze is clean and glossy, and the piece displays beautifully.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

This vintage studio art pottery bowl is a hand-thrown piece featuring a deep tenmoku-style dark brown glaze with a carved floral medallion at the center. The central design is incised into the clay, creating a bold stylized flower motif that contrasts against the darker surrounding glaze.

The bowl has a wide, gently sloping form that gives it both visual presence and functional versatility. The interior decoration provides strong contrast and depth, while the glossy glaze enhances the richness of the surface.

The underside shows a trimmed foot ring with an incised “N” maker’s mark within a circle, indicating studio production. The overall design reflects Japanese-inspired pottery techniques that were widely used by studio potters in the late 20th century.

ITEM CONDITION

This bowl is in Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Repairs. NOTE: There is light shelf wear on the base consistent with age. The glaze is clean with no discoloration.
