PATTERN & DESIGN
Bombay is a refined yet durable floral border pattern featuring stylized blossoms in blue, yellow, red, and soft pink intertwined with flowing green vines. A clean green trim line frames the rim, giving the plates a crisp, tailored presentation. The design balances decorative charm with commercial practicality — a hallmark of mid-century American restaurant ware.
The border layout leaves a generous cream well, making the pattern both elegant and highly functional for table service.

ITEM DESCRIPTION
Set of Two (2) vintage Syracuse China dinner plates measuring approximately 9 3/4" rim to rim each. Both are marked: O.P. Co. Syracuse China 11-Z.
The 11-Z date code corresponds to November 1945, placing these pieces in the immediate post-World War II production era under the O.P. Co. (Onondaga Pottery Company) mark.

Syracuse China began as the Onondaga Pottery Company in 1871 in Syracuse, New York. The company became one of America’s premier manufacturers of vitrified hotel and restaurant ware, known for its durability, clean glaze quality, and precise date coding system. O.P. Co. marked pieces represent the earlier era before the simplified “Syracuse China” backstamp was adopted.
These heavy vitrified bodies were engineered for demanding commercial environments such as hotels, diners, railroad dining cars, steamships, and institutions. Surviving matched pairs from the 1945 O.P. Co. production period in excellent condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially with strong gloss and clean rims.
