Description

Antique German Rococo Delft-Form Porcelain Blue & White 4 1/8" Milk Pitcher c1800
This is in Very Good Condition with No Cracks No Crazing NOTE: there is a small rim chip(SEE picture with pen). Very Nice Porcelain Milk Pitcher. This is a late 18th to early 19th century German Rococo porcelain milk pitcher, beautifully decorated in traditional underglaze cobalt blue floral scrollwork and modeled after classic Dutch Delft forms. This is not earthenware Delft — it is the German porcelain evolution of Delft design, produced during the period when Thuringian porcelain factories refined Delft shapes into true hard porcelain.

The pitcher features a tri-lobed Rococo pouring lip, molded lobed foot, applied curled handle, and a raised molded flower rosette on the front — all hallmark construction features of early German Rococo porcelain. The body exhibits a soft translucent milk-white porcelain tone with thick, slightly pooled glaze consistent with pre-industrial kiln firing.

The underside bears an impressed mold number “083”, a factory cavity number commonly used by early Thuringian porcelain workshops. This form was largely discontinued by the 1820s, making surviving examples especially scarce.
