Mayer China Kirkwood Pattern Pullman Railroad Hotel 3-Part 10 3/8" Divided Grill Plate 1953

This is in Good Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing NOTE: there is a nonthreatening hairline(SEE picture with pen), some scratches and some dulling you can notice when he light reflects off them. This is an authentic Mayer China Company KIRKWOOD pattern first-class hotel and Pullman railroad dining plate, produced in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania during the early 20th century. The Kirkwood pattern represents Mayer’s highest-grade decorated hotel china, reserved for luxury Pullman sleepers, grand hotels, private dining clubs, and ocean-liner service.

This three-section divided grill plate features the highly desirable triangular compartment configuration used for first-course and meat-and-two service in white-tablecloth dining rooms. These large divided Kirkwood service plates were produced in very limited quantities and were subjected to heavy commercial use, making surviving examples exceptionally difficult to find today.

The plate is richly decorated with hand-applied Neoclassical scroll and floral banding in gold and black over an ivory ground, finished with a terracotta rim band
