ITEM DESCRIPTION

This antique Royal Doulton Porcelain Rare Orange Blue & Green Chintz Dinner Plate is in Excellent Antique Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Dating to approximately 1905, this striking Royal Doulton plate measures approximately 10 3/8" across.

The plate features an extraordinary all-over chintz-style floral decoration covering virtually the entire surface. Large stylized flowers are rendered in brilliant orange and turquoise blue, surrounded by an abundance of fresh green leaves.

The background is filled with exceptionally fine black line and stippled decoration, creating a dense lace-like effect between the flowers and foliage. The combination of vivid color and intricate detailing gives the plate tremendous visual impact.

Unlike more traditional Royal Doulton floral patterns with open white areas and formal borders, this design covers the plate from edge to edge, creating a particularly bold and unusual example of early 20th-century Royal Doulton porcelain.

The underside bears the Royal Doulton crowned lion factory backstamp.

PATTERN & DESIGN

This rare Royal Doulton design features a remarkably dense all-over floral composition reminiscent of printed chintz fabric. Large orange-centered flowers with turquoise-blue petals are distributed across the entire plate and surrounded by numerous green leaves and trailing stems.

Between the colorful flowers and foliage is an intricate network of extremely fine black line and stippled decoration. This detailed background gives the design depth and texture while allowing the vibrant orange, blue and green colors to stand out dramatically.

The bold stylized flowers and flowing naturalistic foliage reflect the influence of the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements that were fashionable during the early years of the 20th century.

With its large 10 3/8" size, unusual edge-to-edge decoration and vivid color combination, this is an especially distinctive example of early Royal Doulton porcelain.

This measures 10 3/8" Wide rim to rim. I have provided many pictures to best describe the condition of this Bowl.
