ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is a beautiful Royal Leerdam commemorative amethyst Glass cup designed by A.D. Copier, celebrating the Wilhelmina Jubilee spanning 1898-1923. The cup features a rich transparent amethyst purple glass body adorned with intricate gold gilt decoration, including stylized floral and Art Deco influenced motifs surrounding commemorative lettering.
The elegant tapered form sits on a stepped circular foot and displays the refined modernist styling associated with Dutch designer A.D. Copier, one of the most important 20th-century designers for Royal Leerdam Glass Works.
The gold decoration commemorates Queen Wilhelmina and her jubilee years, making this both an attractive decorative glass piece and an important historical commemorative example from early 20th-century Dutch glass production.
