DESCRIPTION

This Watcombe Torquay pottery water pitcher is in Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Repairs. The pitcher is made of traditional reddish-brown terracotta earthenware with a warm glazed finish. It features a rounded bulbous body, flared neck, pronounced pouring spout and applied loop handle. Small strainer holes inside the pitcher near the spout add an interesting functional detail. The underside is clearly marked WATCOMBE TORQUAY ENGLAND.

CONDITION

Excellent Vintage Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Repairs. There is light age-appropriate surface wear and natural variations in the pottery and glaze consistent with the handmade character, age and use of the piece. Please review the photos for complete condition.

PROVENANCE

Watcombe Pottery was established in the Torquay area of Devon, England during the 19th century and became an important producer associated with the well-known Torquay pottery tradition. This pitcher bears the WATCOMBE TORQUAY ENGLAND mark and represents the practical earthenware produced by the pottery during the 20th century. Its warm terracotta body, simple glazed finish and functional strainer spout give the piece the distinctive character associated with traditional English Torquay pottery.

This measures 5 1/2" High x 3 7/8" Wide spout to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Pitcher.
